This is my map of understanding and also 35 quotes, facts, places etc from my essay in preperation for creating my visual diagram.
I found this exercise quite confusing to do, but after I had done it it did inform my final piece. I looked at different areas of body image and in different countries. It then lead me to looking at culture appropriation particularly in america which then I looked more closer into. I thought more about the "perfect woman" and where her different elements came from.
I highlighted the facts and quotes in my essay to think further about them also but this was not as effective. My thought process lead me to looking into how women are undermined in not just the media but in television shows and in music. This then informed my poster's final creation, which went from me thinking about creating it in more a graphical way to me creating it drawing numerous women who are locked out of the careers they want to be in because of their image.
